A Specialized Educational Program in New Hampshire

Birch Academy is a New Hampshire Department of Education-approved 10-month Special Education Program, offering an additional 25-day Extended School Year (ESY) program during July and August. 

We proudly serve students in grades K–6, focusing on:

  • Personalized, Strength-Based Learning Approaches 

Our mission is to support each student by building upon their individual strengths. We emphasize the development of functional communication, adaptive skills, and independence, helping students thrive both in and outside the classroom.

At Birch Academy, our comprehensive team of professionals works collaboratively to support the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally:

Education Administrator

Ensures program integrity, compliance, and individualized service alignment with each student’s IEP. 

Board Certified Behavior
Analysts (BCBAs)

Oversee the development and implementation of behavior support plans, data-driven interventions, and staff training. 

Certified Special
Education Administrator

Deliver tailored academic instruction that promotes skill acquisition and classroom success. 

Occupational Therapist

Addresses fine motor, sensory, and self-help skills to support functional independence.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Supports receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language development through individualized and group services. 

Music Therapy

enhances communication, emotional regulation, and engagement through creative, therapeutic experiences. 

This team-based approach allows us to deliver a highly individualized, evidence-based program that helps students thrive across settings.

Referral Steps

Our Simple

Parents/guardians interested in exploring educational placement at Birch Academy are encouraged to collaborate with their child’s school district.

The referral process begins with the submission of the following documents:

  • 1

    Completed Birch Intake Form, signed by the child’s legal guardian or parent and school district representative

  • 2

    Copy of the most current Individualized Education Program (IEP)

  • 3

    Copy of the most recent 3-year evaluations

  • 4

    Copy of the student’s Behavior Support Plan (if applicable)

  • 5

    Relevant medical documentation pertaining to the student’s healthcare needs (if applicable)
